Updates On My ‘Craftiness’

I realize that I haven’t updated my site for awhile which is really not a good thing, partly because there’s no sense in having a website and taking up space on the ‘interweb’ if it’s not going to get used but also because I really wanted to use this site more often to let everyone know what I’ve been up to.  So, to prove that I haven’t been completely idle, I thought I’d put up a few pictures of my recent projects.  Of course, everyone knows about my crocheting:

A little Christmas project – a tea cozy!

A Christmas present for my brother.

You can take the microbiologist out of the lab but… Yup, this is gonorrhea!

A set of trivets I made for someone and also, my first paid crocheting job!

A little Valentine’s Day gift for a friend!

And finally, the ‘Inauguration Chapeau’ that I made most recently.

I’ve also kept up with the sewing too:

I found a couple of old money bags for sale at a junk store early this year. I sewed on handles myself so i can use them for shopping.

A pair of pants I made from the December 2012 issue of Burda Style magazine (pattern 148).

And I’m back to the wine making too.  The 2012 Concord grape harvest has finished fermenting and is now bottled.

Two of the twenty seven bottles filled.

From looking at the labels on my wines bottles, you might realize that I’ve taken up yet another new hobby.  I’ve been playing around with calligraphy since last summer and even though I definitely need more practice, here are some samples of my work:

A couple of quotes that stuck in my mind this past holiday season when everyone around me jumped on some of the hate bandwagons that were rolling through.

I found this paper at the dollar store and I just had to buy it! And what better thing to write on it than this little rhyme! (I did this way quicker than I should have.)

The passage that this comes from is so amazing and so incredibly true. We may be responsible for our own decisions but it’s easy to forget how much luck plays a part in our lives.

Finally, I should probably report that there’s something else that I may start getting into.  Robotics, computers, and DIY everything is really becoming more and more popular.  It’s hard not to get online and ignore some of the amazing projects dreamed up.  I’ve always wanted to learn more about both computers and electronics and Arduino seemed like a good start so I jumped online and bought myself a starter kit.  I’ve slowly been going through the tutorials on the Arduino website so stay tuned for more!

My first step to building a death ray that will help me take over the world! Mwah ha ha! (I’m just kidding, of course!)
