Rough day today. This job search really is draining the life from me. Not only did I lose out on a position due to not being as experienced as others but then I trucked out to another place to apply for a position that’s still posted online only to find out that they had already hired someone! I know things like that happen and job hunting is a lot of luck but still….it’s difficult not to be frustrated under the circumstances.
Yes, I’m in my early 30’s so I have some life experiences and no, I’m not a complete dummy but these should be looked at as positives, right? I understand the appeal of hiring flaky kids since they’re (theoretically) easier to ‘mold’ but surely there are advantages of hiring someone like me. Why is intelligence and experience looked down on so much these days? I have had my troubles and I’m not perfect but who is? In fact, I would be more worried about the perfect ‘keeners’ since people like that tend to be too good to be true!
But as I write this, my stress induced headache is taking over and I really don’t want to ramble too much especially since there’s a risk of me going off the deep end right now. But if anyone has any advice or job leads, please let me know!
