Saskatchewan Aviation Museum Trip

When I first heard that there would be a new museum in town a few years back, I was excited. Despite being a young province, there’s actually quite a bit of history here. Okay, I’m not that big into airplanes but I was still curious. Unfortunately, it’s too easy to forget about places once the initial hubbub is over and that’s what happened with the Saskatchewan Aviation Museum and Learning Centre. The arrival of a nasty pandemic didn’t help matters either. Luckily, the museum popped back into my consciousness recently for reasons that I can’t talk about just yet. And I’m glad it did because this place is one awesome little gem!

The Saskatchewan Aviation Museum has had a crazy year (like all of us) and had to trim their operation down a bit. Instead of having the whole hanger, they’ve had to squish everything into one “small” area. But it’s still worth a wander. Between the relative remoteness of many parts of the province as well as the contribution the prairies have made in times of war, it shouldn’t be a surprise that we have a deep history in aviation

I know the museum has had special events in the past and with a potential partnership between the museum and a group I belong to, I’m excited to visit again and again. If you’re ever down near the airport, make a trip to out to hanger 5!
