Halloween weekend was supposed to be extra special this year. Scientists had observed a coronal mass ejection on October 28th and were predicting an incredible showing of aurora once it hit Earth. And yes, some people got a good light show that weekend, but we had to wait a few more days before the green goblins hit Saskatoon.
On the night of November 3rd, my Aurora Alert app started buzzing a lot, and shockingly, it was fairly clear outside that evening. I hummed and hah-ed a bit, burned by previous false alarms, but then I decided to grab some gear from my freshly organized stash and I headed out to the Northeast Swale. Clearly, I wasn’t the only one with that idea as there were several cars there but I still managed to snap a few pictures.
