Last Paddle Of 2020

What a mess this year has been, am I right? One of the things that helps keep me grounded in difficult times is getting out in nature as much as possible and this year has been no exception. It hasn’t been easy. Sometimes my body wouldn’t let me and other times, nature decided to be a jerk. So, what a surprise it was when we had glorious weather in the first week of November!

Kayaking has been tricky this year. The paddling season started off a bit cool. Then the winds came. By the time they died down, the river was way to high and fast for anyone to be near let alone on the water. The heat came as soon as the water calmed down. Then wind again. Then cold. You get the picture. It was tricky squeezing in paddling time. I was almost ready to pack up my gear for the season when a lovely stretch of warm weather came. So I threw my gear into my folks SUV and headed to the river! And was I ever glad to be there!

The water was strangely on the fast side and I was sore from an earlier hike but the half hour on the water was so restorative. And I was going to need that clam for what hit the city next….
