Hearts & Flowers

Yes, I have another belated post here as this should have been a Valentine’s Day thing, but alas, life once again got in the way.  I’d like to think though, that beautiful pictures can be posted and viewed at any time of the year.  Am I right?

I had to work during Valentine’s Day this year and while it’s a day that I tend to not give much thought to regardless of my relationship status, I admit that there are two things about it that I absolutely love: the chocolate and the roses!

Being that I have a major rose obsession, I’m spending more time practicing photography, AND I’m currently working in retail, I couldn’t resist the temptation to buy a bunch of roses to take pictures of.  We all need good subjects, after all!  Here are the results of some of my experimenting.  It’s interesting how changing the background can make such a difference in how you need to do the photo editing, but as photography simply comes don’t to manipulating light, I guess I shouldn’t be too surprised.

As this was supposed to be a Valentine’s Day post, as I previously mentioned, I also did some shots of a heart shaped decoration I bought a few years back.  It’s definitely quite a switch in thinking between shooting something shiny and fake versus something ‘organic’ yet dead.  But that’s all a part of the fun of photography!
