With the COVID pandemic in the early stages of the second wave, it was clear that Halloween 2020 was going to be a bust. So instead of spending my afternoon putting up spooky decorations, my friend and I went to Chappell Marsh.
If you go back far enough in this blog, you’ll see other posts from Chappell Marsh. On the southern edge of Saskatoon, next to Cedar Villa Estates is a small wildlife area managed by Ducks Unlimited and was my favorite quiet place to snowshoe. As they don’t allow dogs (understandably), I started going less and less. It’s been at least 3 years since I’ve been there and it was high time to go back!
It was a cold, windy walk but so peaceful. For a Saturday, it was shockingly empty which is perfect at the best of times but especially during a pandemic. I hope I’ll get to go back again this year. With the insane snowfall we recieved so far, it will be an amazing place for snowshoeing! Maybe a little too good!
