One of the things that is different with my new camera compared to my old camera is the focusing system. My old D70s had 6 focus points. My new D7200 has 51. Who cares, right? Well, the problem comes in when trying to take pictures of your subject when there’s something in front; the auto-focusing system automatically wants to focus on the wrong thing. But, like so many things, a little education goes a long way and after watching an extremely informative Youtube video on the topic, I was ready to do some more practicing. So, with camera in tow, some gorgeous weather, and a good friend by my side, I decided to hit a place I love but haven’t been to in awhile: the zoo!
The Forestry Farm Zoo is always going through changes but the most obvious change hit us at the zoo gate: it moved! Good thing too because with the bears hibernating, they don’t need a bunch of squeaky kids at the door. As usual, many displays were down either due to the animal not being able to handle a chilly Saskatchewan winter or because they’re bringing in someone new. But there were still plenty of adorable but dangerous wild animals to see…and “shoot”!
What a wonderful day hanging out with my furry friends! I know I need to play with my camera more but little adventures like this make me hopeful that one day, I’ll have it mastered!
