With a few days off of work this week and clear highway conditions, I took the opportunity to go visit a friend in North Battleford. The last time I was there was for work so it didn’t occur to me then to take my camera. This time, I brought it with me and made sure to bring my creepy fisheye lens that everyone loves so much to snap some pictures of one of the pedestrian bridges there. (I’ve been trying to find the name of this bridge that I believe goes to Finlayson Island, but despite living in the digital age, it’s proving difficult to find any real information. Of course, in the past, I know looking for names for bridges can be tricky since they often have more than one and even official names seem to get lost easily!)
After I got home and realized how warm it had gotten outside, I jumped back in my car and headed south to Beaver Creek. My mom kept asking me when we were going to go feed the chickadees again so it just seemed like a perfect time to go! It was just a quick walk, but here are a few of the picture I snapped.
I was really thrilled to see some birds though, as our yard has been very empty this winter. This phenomenon isn’t just due to seasonal or migrational flux though. Bird populations are in trouble everywhere, apparently and it’s sad to think that this sort of activity may become a rare thing one day.
