Every time I listen to someone talk about getting to travel somewhere for work, I get so jealous and start wishing that I could have a job that involved some travel too. Well, maybe I should have been more specific in my wishes because the universe seems to have delivered my wish. But instead of going somewhere exotic like Brazil or exciting like New York, I got to go to – brace yourselves! – North Battleford! Yes, I spent a chunk of my Turkey Day long weekend in North Battleford asking customers questions about their purchases.
I’m not going to complain too much though. After all, it’s money! And at the very least, it’s definitely an adventure…of sorts. Everything we do in life – good or bad – is a potential learning experience too which I’m always thankful for. I had the chance to hang out with a coworker, talk to new people, and learn more about our client (whom I can’t talk about here, obviously!)
I admit though that I am kicking myself in the butt a bit. I’ve been thinking about doing more photography lately and yet, two days in a row, I’ve forgotten to take my camera along with me. In my defence, I didn’t really think that I’d have any need for it on this trip. Based on our schedule, there would be no real time to go out and do anything. Oh, how silly of me! On our way to the hotel, the setting sun created a gorgeous scene over the North Saskatchewan River and the only thing I had to capture the moment was a cellphone camera! Ugh! But, standing there at a viewing point looking down into the valley, I definitely got some outdoor trip ideas for next year!
I apologize if this isn’t the most exciting post but at least you know what I’ve been up to lately! And yes, I will keep posting pictures of every little work trip because one day soon, it might be something worth looking at. So, until I get to take one of those awesome, company paid adventures around the world, I’ll have fun practising with these little trips!
